Shelter have produced a useful summary of the likelihood of these homes being affordable in the Eastern Region which shows that families on average wages and single people looking to buy their first home would struggle to buy in most local authority areas

Starter Homes these are the major affordable house building policy of the government who are looking to see 200,000 will be built by 2020. Available to people under the age of 40 these homes will be built by private builders and sold at 80% of market prices (no more than £450,000 in London and £250,000 in the rest of the England.
